JOB ANNOUNCEMENT FOR

DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

 

The Oregon School Employees Association (OSEA) is accepting resumes from individuals who are interested in working for a labor organization in the capacity of Director of Government Relations and Communications. This position is a member of the management team.

 

The Oregon School Employees Association is a membership directed labor organization and represents classified employees working in Oregon's K-12 schools, community colleges, Head Start, educational service districts, parks and recreation and library districts. In addition to the State Office in Salem, OSEA has eight field offices located throughout the state of Oregon.

 

Individuals submitting a resume for this position should include their educational background and work experience. Specifically, resumes should include applicant’s experience and knowledge in lobbying / legislative work, association / union operations, coalition building, statute and administrative law comprehension, contract administration, development of organizational communication programs and strategy, editorial responsibilities, social media, website design, communication and editing software, management and supervision as well as strong overall communication and planning skills.

 

DIRECTOR OF GOVERNMENT RELATIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS

 

GENERAL JOB

DESCRIPTION:                                  Works under the direct supervision of the Executive Director. This position has the responsibility of directing the organization’s government relations and communications staff and operations. This position requires a high level of confidentiality and is a member of the management team.

 

SALARY/BENEFITS:                         Salary range starting at $100,248 per year, health benefits, 401k plan, dental insurance, and employer-provided automobile.

 

EDUCATION /                         Attainment of a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, Labor

EXPERIENCE:                                   Relations, Journalism, Communications or a related field or equivalent is required for the position. At least two years of experience in political lobbying and/or journalism/public relations with a labor, political or progressive organization.

 

JOB LOCATION:                                The open position is located in the Salem Headquarters office. Selected candidates may need to relocate.
